The most awaited version Thesis 2.0 is now available for download. Here is unbiased review of Thesis 2.0 with screenshots. Its almost 2 years when Thesis 2 took its roots in DIYThemes labs and finally the wait is over. The over-hyped thesis 2 is ready to rock on your blogs and its completely rewritten from scratch. This version of Thesis is really innovative and works out of the box. Some other themes available now are what Thesis is 2 years back.
I have been waiting eagerly to try my hands on Thesis 2 for months and here comes the moment. I got many expectations on this giant and finally it deserves the wait. One small suggestion from my end is don’t compare Thesis 2.0 with other WordPress themes because its completely different and any sort of layout can be built in just seconds of time.

Thesis 2.0 Review with Screenshots
Immediately after installing Thesis 2.0 you will notice “Click to get Started” button. Just click on it and entire packages will be deployed into the installation. Now, your Thesis 2.0 is ready.
You can notice 4 menu tabs with names “Site, Skins, Boxes, Packages” on the admin page. Also there is a detailed Get Started guide that helps to easily understand things.
In each of the menu tabs you can notice Submenu items that takes you to other settings pages. Thesis 2.0 got a powerful HTML Head Editor with many options that can be easily configured.
All the essence in previous versions on Thesis is available in Thesis 2.0 also. So you will having much better control over many SEO related things and no need to bother anymore.
Thesis 2.0 got a page to setup Home Page SEO data and along with this 404 error page and tracking scripts can also be easily setup with just 2 clicks of mouse.
Here starts the real magic of Thesis 2.0. Using Skins – you will get 2 basic skins by default which can be activated in one click and can be edited by using advanced skin editor.
The drag and drop builder is amazing and it helps to create different types of layouts. Drag and drop element to add them to layout or Shift + Drag them to delete on next save.
Skin CSS can be edited and additional packages can be included easily. You can use existing variable or can create new ones all right from the Thesis Admin page on your Dashboard.
The best thing about Thesis 2.0 Skin Editor is you can manage images directly rather than switching between Media uploader and the editor. Also you can delete existing images.

Disagree with your assessment and it’s why the Thesis folks are scrambling to ‘fix’ things. 2.0 was supposed to be a big leap forward for NON-DEVELOPERS – people who loved the speed and simplicity of earlier versions of Thesis but didn’t want to have to dive deeply into the taxonomies and other requirements of the developers’ world. If anything, 2.0 is LESS friendly for these audiences now. More powerful for developers? Probably and maybe they switched gears and that’s their core audience now. But they will struggle to sell to the millions of small business owners and others out there who wanted a useful framework for themselves. My $.02.

The skin editor is really badly designed. Its so bad, that its quicker for me to code an entire wordpress theme in css by hand then by going through the complex menu system.
Whats more, this theme isn’t even responsive. How can a WordPress theme, released today, not be responsive? A quick look at the css shows that the quality of code is about 2 years old
I was really disappointed by this and immediately asked for a refund because it was so crap.
Some people say Thesis is a theme made for developers but I disagree. Making your own unique design is easy with Thesis. Nonetheless, DIYThemes could offer an extra skins package together with their Thesis 2.0 theme. Wouldn’t you agree?
I think thesis is awsome and have used it for a couple of years with great results. I also think the thesis community is one of the best. But saying thesis is ready out of the box is really misleading. There is not much anyone without serious nerd knowledge can do with the way it was released. No documentation, no usable skin, no way to have your site move to thesis 2 and keep its original look, until you rebuild it from scratch without documentation. I know thesis 2 will be awesome in the future, but it was not ready for wide distribution.
The screenshots are very neat. Will definitely give these a try.
This is one of the best – detailed reviews that I have read. But, it would have been better if you had spent some more time playing around with it and also pointing out the features that can be improved. I would then call it an “unbiased review”
Anyone would love to buy Thesis 2.0 after reading this. But, no one will do that if they know that there is no user guide or documentation available yet!

Few days ago i update to Thesis 2 for my service site. Hope it will be good for SEO.
I’m not against good affiliate marketing but the pretending that you can use the label ‘unbiased’ in conjunction with an affiliate link is deliberately misleading, no matter how transparent you are about your connections to said company. This hurts the sites credibility in my opinion.
I purchased thesis 2.0 and was disappointed. Oh…if you are a wordpress junkie or a techy savvy css, php guru it should be a breeze. But for the average Joe – Jane, online marketer or wordpress user it is a real pain. There is a big learning curve. Think I’ll stick to Genesis.
I ‘m tempted to buy thesis but i cannot find a way of asking the team who made it any questions before I buy. The main reason I want it is for speed and responsiveness to mobile devises but now Im not sure if it is even responsive? I’m so bothered about the drag and drop as i find it easy to change themes anyway. Do people think it is worth it? Or should I go with a cheaper theme that doesn’t offer so many features that I don’t need? Surely less complicated themes would have a quicker loading time..
Don’t listen to all that drag and drop stuff, it’s nowhere near as easy as that. Thesis 2 I’m sorry to say is a big, big disapointment to myself. The early versions were so much user freindly and easy and quick to use that this update is pretty much the end of my relationship with the Thesis theme. Still, as one door closes…
Sorry, but I totally disagree with your review. It is NOT an easy theme to use out of the box. I used Thesis 1 in it’s various versions for years. This new theme might be alright for developers, but it’s NOT user friendly. Way too complicated. Not even a responsive theme, either, and how can you put out a new theme in this day and age that isn’t? After years of loving thesis, I fear it’s time to move on.
what about responsive design with Thesis 2?
the best part of this theme is- It is already optimised for all type of seo. So no need to install any other second seo plugin for the same task. Second is it use its own thumbnail creation tricks to generate small thumbnail images. Overall a must have theme framework for all the wp-bloggers. The only negative part is- does not come with some bundled child themes. so all the time you have to spend some extra bucks.
