Thesis and Genesis are the most popular WordPress theme frameworks which are widely used by bloggers and webmasters round the World. Some bloggers choose Thesis and some others choose Genesis and we got some fine experience in using and customizing these two frameworks. In this case, we personally prefer to use Genesis and finally decided to share some reasons behind it.
Comparison of Thesis vs Genesis Theme Framework
The main reason for opting any of these two frameworks is their top notch inbuilt SEO features, which are also available in some free SEO plugins like All in One SEO, WordPress SEO by Yoast etc. Anyhow I don’t want to compare the SEO features of these two giants, as there is need to consider many other factors. Now, let’s skip to our “main topic” and here are the reasons why Genesis is better than Thesis.

Reasons why Genesis is better than Thesis
1. Price Matters
Price – Its plays a major role in deciding the success of any digital product, but in case of thesis it’s not. Thesis framework is priced at $87 for personal use and $164 for developer version, even at this price tag, DIY themes tops the sales list. Coming to the Genesis, it’s priced at just $60, which is affordable when compared to thesis. Almost similar features at different price tags, so anyone will opt for the best priced one, same thing happened in this case.
2. Support and Updates
Support from both thesis and genesis is quite good, but with its resources, developers and strong community StudioPress is ahead of DIYthemes. Support is offered through forums, email and mainly through blog where helpful tutorials and tips are regularly updated. Thesis failed to give regular updates to its users and FYI last update is after 18 months of its previous version. While on the other hand, Genesis is the best in giving regular updates with new features.
3. Child Themes
DIYthemes never developed child skins for its own Thesis Framework, still some quality skins are available from 3rd party theme houses. While, StudioPress got its own Child Themes (both free and premium) for their Genesis framework and the most interesting part is they are offering support to their child themes also. You can also get Child themes from other developers at StudioPress market place.
Customizing thesis is a bit complicated when compared to genesis, as one should have in-depth knowledge on the structure of Thesis. Both these frameworks can be customized to great extent using hooks and filters. In Genesis, everything can be managed and controlled through widget section, which is a bit easy task for newbie’s and for those who hates to mess-up with coding. Also, Options panel can also be constructed for both of these themes.
5. Design Factor
When you setup Thesis theme on your blog, it’s just a bare-bones theme and needs a lot of customization starting from scratch, which is not possible in all cases. Coming to the Genesis, the basic look and feel is quite good and any of your favorite child themes can be installed easily. Also, the Genesis framework and majority of its child themes got responsive design, which is not available in case of Thesis.
Apart from these all, security is also the reason which is comparatively high in Genesis, as it doesn’t depend on third party image resizing tools like Tim-thumb.
Finally will you agree with us? Why “Genesis is far better than thesis” and very soon we will write an article on in-depth Comparison of Thesis and Genesis Frameworks. Please do post your valuable comments and let us know your view on this article.
