Its an official theme developed by WordPress team.
Looks like WordPress is catching on that more and more people are using WP for their website. Just an opinion, but over the next 5 years I think WP is going to give traditional web designers a run for their money.

Now, I’m using it on one of my site. It has really simple design and minimalist. I don’t even need to buy another premium theme. Because it’s already perfect!
Why not just download the latest copy direct from WordPress? WordPress is available for download on their Github account: https://github.com/WordPress/WordPress and under themes it has twentytwelve available for anyone to use on their themes and is constantly updated as is WordPress.

Finally, wordpress team designs an elegant and full customizable default theme. New features that I like most is ‘fully responsive theme’. Now, I don’t need mobile plugin anymore.

I have installed the Twenty Twelve on my site. I am please with but I am sure when it is delivered with WP 3.5 it will be better. Overall I like it more than Twenty Eleven because it is more compatible with my plugins and seems to be faster.
