Step 1: Download and install any FTP client software like FileZilla.

Step 2: Login to FTP account using Host, Username and Password. If you dont have them, you can get these details from your hosting account.

Step 3: From here onwards you need to navigate to the themes folder and the very first thing is open public_html directory.

Step 4: Now, Go to wp-content folder and you can see a list of many folders like Themes, Plugins, Uploads etc. Just open Themes folder by clicking on it.

Step 5: You can see a list of all themes available in your WordPress blog and just one more step, you are done with the backup of theme.

Step 6: Right-click on the theme folder and click on Download button, theme will be downloaded to your desktop and it means you got a backup.

You can archive the folder to .ZIP file format and can use it on other blogs also.

Other Methods to Backup WordPress Theme
Only alternative method is saving theme files one-by-one from Theme Editor in your WordPress Dashboard. This is not recommended and is helpful in case if you dont have access to the FTP. Just Login to WordPress, go to Appearance > Editor and you can see a list of all available theme files.
Open every file in Editor, copy code to notepad and save it with same name and extension. Once you are done with every file, move them to a folder and archive it in .ZIP format. Voila, you have successfully got a Backup of WordPress Theme.

Nive guide buddy. I usually backup my themes via FTP, that’s the best way to do it.
I never back up my theme since I don’t feel to back up my theme. But this is useful for me if I need to back up my theme. Tanking you mate.
